There are thousands of blogs in the World Wide Web today, yet not one of them belongs to Sergey Brin, one of the founders of Google. Ironically, this huge search engine is the owner of one of the biggest blogging platforms in the world, Blogger.com.

Nevertheless, it’s never too late to start something. In his first entry, Brin talks about something personal—information that would perhaps pique the interest of the readers and let them know that super geniuses are still humans after all.

He talked about the two important women in his life: his mother and his wife. He told everyone of the Parkinson’s disease his mother is suffering from, as well as the company of Anne Wojcicki, his wife, called 23andMe. Through the latter, he was able to discover that his mutated gene actually makes him susceptible from developing the same illness too. The test involved comparing the genes of his relatives.

Rather than sulk over the information, though, Brin took everything on a positive note. He believed that the results gave him the opportunity to prepare for any eventuality, including the possibility of acquiring Parkinson’s disease once he reached old age. He also reminded all readers that when everyone is already in their prime, they become more vulnerable to certain medical conditions.

Sergey Brin is actually not new to online media. For many years, he was making news webcasts and is a veteran in terms of press announcements for the Internet. However, his blog entry last Thursday, September 18, 2008, was actually his first ever since Blogger.com was acquired by Google in 2003. Brin is also an active participant in Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Parkinson’s Institute, two organizations that are close to his heart.

Hopefully, though, we can expect to hear more of Brin personal stories. Wouldn’t we love to know what these guys are really all about?
