A week ago, Google +, Google Inc.’s official social networking website, launched its newest feature, the Share button.  This additional feature helps Google+ users easily share contents in their home and profile pages.  It is now globally available as it can already be embedded on web sites and blog sites allowing visitors or readers to share pages from anywhere on the web.

Google+ Share Button’s Difference from the +1 Button

The +1 button simply allows users to rate or give certain content a “high five”, on the other hand, the share button allows users to instantly share pages either in the Google + page or anywhere on the web wherein the share button code is embedded.  These social buttons are obvious variations from Facebook’s Like and Share buttons, as well as Twitter’s Favorite and Re-Tweet buttons.

Below is how the Share button looks like inside a Google+ page.

As what the image shows above, users can also filter who can view the shared content.  They can either share it publicly or to a specific circle of people.  They can also add a comment alongside the shared content.

Google+ Share Button and Its Implication to SEO

Though everything about Google+ is not something new because most of its social features already exist in more popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, search marketers especially SEO professionals are always keeping a constant watch on its latest progress.  This is because Google+ is well integrated in Google Search system and it means a lot when it comes to increasing a website’s ranking.  This also greatly affects Google SEO more than anything else.

The Google+ share button is another important social tool from Google that would help determine how relevant content is by how many times it is being shared on the web.

Google+ and Google Search

As long as Google Search is there, Google+ will have a fair share of competition against social networking giants like Facebook and Twitter.  Unlike Google’s previous social network platform attempts (i.e. Google Buzz, Google Wave), Google+ is predicted by online technology experts to compete well with other big social media networks.
