Google has again pushed back plans to draw staff back to the office amid concern over the spread of Covid-19’s Omicron variant.

The American technology group, which has more than 150,000 employees across the world, will not mandate that they return to their desks in the new year. A voluntary return policy had been due to expire on January 10.

Matt Brittin, Google’s president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, told workers yesterday that this deadline would be postponed. His message was first reported by Insider.

Alphabet, owner of Google, is based in Mountain View, California, valued at $1.9 trillion and has more than 80 offices worldwide.
