NEW YORK (TND) — The Office of New York Attorney General Letitia James wrote a letter to Google this week demanding the search engine remove some of the results that appear when people search for abortion services.

The results in question allegedly “direct individuals seeking abortions to dangerous and misleading anti-abortion clinics in New York,” the AG’s office claims.

Writing the letter to Google on behalf of AG James, Health Care Bureau Chief Darsana Srinivasan claims Google search results for “abortion” provide information on both health care centers that provide abortion services and health care centers that do not.

Indeed, those latter organizations known as ‘crisis pregnancy centers’ (CPCs) are not health care providers and will not provide abortion counseling or abortion referrals,” Srinivasan writes in the letter. “CPCs exist solely to intercept and dissuade pregnant people from making fully informed decisions about their healthcare such as the choice to obtain an…
